Job Description

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the coordination and execution of complex, cross-functional capital and strategic initiatives at Teton Science Schools. This role serves as the central point of integration across internal stakeholders (staff and Board of Directors) and external partners including consultants, contractors, architects, engineers, and community stakeholders.

The Project Manager ensures that major projects—such as campus master planning, infrastructure development, and organization-wide facility improvements—are executed effectively, on time, and in alignment with TSS’s mission, financial priorities, and long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the staff lead for major capital and strategic projects (e.g., Mountain Academy Teton Valley Campus master plan refresh, Jackson Campus infrastructure projects, facility upgrades).
  • Coordinate across departments to align project goals, timelines, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and reporting structures.
  • Ensure consistent communication and alignment between staff leadership and the Board.

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Act as the primary liaison with external consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Coordinate engagement with community partners, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders as needed.
  • Facilitate meetings, track decisions, and ensure accountability across all parties.

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Lead the development and execution of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and bid processes.
  • Evaluate proposals and support vendor/contractor selection in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
  • Maintain organized documentation of all agreements and project records.

Budget & Financial Oversight

  • Track project budgets in coordination with finance staff and leadership.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify risks or variances.
  • Support financial forecasting and reporting related to capital initiatives.

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare materials and updates for Board committees and full Board meetings.
  • Ensure projects align with Board-approved priorities and governance expectations.
  • Provide clear, concise reporting on project status, risks, and milestones.

Risk Management & Execution

  • Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, permits, and organizational policies.
  • Drive projects forward with a solutions-oriented, detail-focused approach.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5–10 years of experience in project management, capital projects, construction management, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Experience with RFP processes, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with campus planning, facilities development, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, permitting, and regulatory environments in Wyoming/Idaho region.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
