Job Description

Position Title: Special Education Paraprofessional


 


Reports to: Building Principal/Director
Work Schedule: 190-Day Contract
Hours to Work: 8 hours


 


Primary Function: 


Working under the direction of a certified teacher, provide support services in the classroom including:


 


DESIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Previous experience in providing modified instruction and/or previous experience serving in a separate class setting and providing specially designed instruction

  • Flexible, energetic, positive attitude

  • A student advocate; a good working relationship with parents

  • Experience in a variety of special education settings is preferred, specifically self-contained environments that require assistance with physical needs (feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility), health care procedures, behavioral management, and support addressing social-emotional needs.


QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years of college credit OR a high school diploma and a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional assessment test is required. Experience working with children of all ages is preferred.


 


The individual must have or be eligible to hold a Georgia Paraprofessional License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).
