    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Education Level:  Master's Degree in school counseling required.
    2. Certification/License Required:  Valid Georgia School Counselor Certificate 
    3. Physical Activities:  Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
    4. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; organization; affective education

     

    REPORTS TO:  Principal

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
    2. Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive school counseling program based on the needs of the students and the school.
    3. Plan, develop, and implement action plans based on the needs of the students and the school.
    4. Provide classroom guidance, school counseling, and individual counseling that relates to the academic, career, and personal/social development of students.
    5. Coordinate with school staff to provide supportive instructional classroom activities that relate to student academic, career, and personal/social development.
    6. Confer and counsel with parents, administrators, and teachers.
    7. Facilitate the referral of students and parents to internal and external services.
    8. Collect and report on student outcomes from classroom guidance, small group, and individual consultations.
    9. Cooperate in compiling and maintaining appropriate student records.
    10. Work with registration and placement of new students and schedule changes.
    11. Evaluate transcripts of incoming and transferring students and keep appropriate records.
    12. Serve as a resource to homeroom advisors/teachers and assist in the homeroom advisement process, as appropriate.
    13. Assist in school-based scheduling for work-based learning students, as appropriate.
    14. Assist with administration of standardized group testing.
    15. Provide information to students and parents on career pathways and life development.
    16. Coordinate transitional activities with feeder schools.
    17. Interpret standardized tests and state mandated tests.
    18. Protect confidentiality of student records and student information.
    19. Participate in school and district committees.
    20. Conduct and/or assist with parent meetings and education.
    21. Conduct and/or participate in professional learning.
    22. Demonstrate professional and ethical practice consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
    23. Carry out duties in accordance with federal and State laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established State and local policies, regulations and practices.
    24. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 day position. Salary based on board approved certified teacher pay schedule.

     

    EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal or designee.
