Our Edmonton office is seeking a Construction Administrator to support the delivery of mechanical engineering services during the construction phase of building projects. As a successful candidate you will provide construction administration services on behalf of our clients, ensuring mechanical systems are installed in general conformance with the contract documents, applicable codes, and the design intent prepared by Englobe and act as the primary interface between the mechanical design team, clients, and contractors throughout construction.

Your main responsibilities 

  • Manage mechanical construction services in accordance with company contracts and industry-standard  practices
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all inquiries related to mechanical systems
  • Critically review mechanical shop drawings and product data for general conformance with the design intent
  • Manage and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) regarding mechanical systems, collaborating closely with the internal design team
  • Conduct regular site visits to observe installation progress, verify equipment, and identify any non-conforming work or deficiencies
  • Assist in the evaluation of change orders and proposed scope changes, providing technical insight on cost and schedule impacts
  • Prepare detailed field review reports, deficiency lists, and maintain accurate logs of all CA documentation and correspondence
  • Participate in site coordination meetings, commissioning activities and substantial performance to ensure successful project handover
  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules.

 

What makes you unique

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar Construction Administrator role or as mechanical contractor specifically focused on building mechanical systems in commercial and institutional building typologies
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, journeyman refrigeration Tech or related field is an asset
  • Proven experience in the building sector (Commercial, Institutional, or Residential)
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NBC, NECB, ASHRAE, CSA, NPC)
  • Ability to work effectively within an integrated team, coordinating with other department counterparts to ensure system compatibility
  • Strong ability to relay technical information clearly to contractors and clients
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word, PDF markup tools and common CA documentation
  • Must be willing and able to travel to various construction sites for site reviews both within Alberta and out of Province as required
  • Must be able to work independently, efficiently and effectively with minimal direct supervision
