Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to safely, effectively and efficiently perform clinical assistant duties required to assist in meeting provider and patient needs. This position is staffed during normal business hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist providers with administering patient care
  • Prepare patients for provider examination including obtaining vital signs on all patients and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Perform pre-visit planning for applicable patient visits
  • Administer & document medications per clinic protocols
  • Educate patients and families as deemed necessary
  • Maintain clean & organized work areas, exam rooms, and treatment rooms
  • Apply treatments and dressings as requested by providers
  • Perform clinic procedures as directed
  • Receive and return patient telephone calls in a timely manner
  • Refill medications per protocol
  • Assist in prior authorization for medications and medical equipment
  • Adhere to clinic and departmental procedures and protocols
  • Clean and sanitize clinic instruments per clinic protocol
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remain punctual, reliable, and available for late coverage if applicable
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude while supporting the clinic vision
  • Maintain required certification and/or licensure applicable to degree
  • Maintain current BLS CPR certification
  • Work effectively under pressure in a fast pace environment
  • Maintain a neat and well groomed professional appearance
  • Interact positively with all interdisciplinary team members
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information acquired through clinic employment
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, internal personnel, and outside facilities
  • Follow clinic emergency/safety protocols and attend mandatory meetings
  • Abide by clinic protocols, ergonomic recommendations, and OSHA standards
  • Adhere to the clinic philosophy and provide comprehensive care according to a patient-centered healthcare clinic

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Subject to interruptions, high volume telephone calls, and frequent problem solving activities
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, staff, or outside agencies
  • Flexibility in scheduling required to meet department needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Abide by ergonomic recommendations of the position
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic devices that will enable these senses to function adequately
  • Stand for several hours
  • Subject to lifting and carrying supplies averaging 25 pounds
  • Repetitive motions involving use of phone and keyboard
