Computer Science / Technology Teacher (K–8) – 2026–2027 School Year

Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156
Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE)
Start Date: Summer 2026

 

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking an innovative and student-centered Computer Science / Technology Teacher (K–8) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas for the 2026–2027 school year.

The Computer Science / Technology Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ digital literacy, computational thinking, and foundational coding skills. The ideal candidate will create a structured and engaging learning environment where scholars explore technology, problem-solving, and responsible digital citizenship while building skills that prepare them for future academic and career success.

AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned computer science and technology instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Nevada Academic Content Standards.

  • Teach foundational concepts in digital literacy, coding, computational thinking, and responsible technology use.

  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.

  • Incorporate hands-on learning opportunities that promote problem-solving, creativity, and innovation.

  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.

Classroom Culture & Student Development

  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.

  • Promote digital citizenship and responsible use of technology.

  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).

  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and school leadership to support STEM initiatives and technology integration.

  • Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student engagement and academic achievement.

  • Engage in ongoing professional learning related to technology integration and instructional best practices.

Family Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.

  • Support family engagement initiatives related to student technology use and digital literacy.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) (or ability to obtain prior to start date)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology Education, Education, or a related field

Additionally, candidates must:

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

  • Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset

  • Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment

  • Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching computer science, coding, or technology in a K–8 or middle school setting

  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments

  • Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELLs)

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
