Description
Tutors are responsible for building a child’s confidence in conjunction with helping develop their academic skills. Tutors are placed with individual students to provide support with homework and other academic needs, and are responsible for developing strategies that help each student succeed in school.
- All work will typically be completed on weekdays during the regular school year, usually between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Occasional Saturday or daytime sessions may be required.

Requirements
CORE EXPECTATIONS:
- Tutors students individually and reviews content, explains how to solve problems and checks completed work.
- Helps students develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve academic performance.
- Keeps reports on students and shares those reports with supervisors, teachers and parents as needed. Maintains an open line of communication and reports any student/parent dissatisfaction with the program to the Coordinator.
- Acts as a positive role model, building the student’s confidence through positive reinforcement.
- Responsible for safety and wellbeing of the student, and for handling and reporting all incidents with both staff and members to the Coordinator or Director.
- Responsible for collecting and submitting tutoring receipts to the Coordinator.

Qualifications:
- Highly motivated, fun, and passionate about tutoring children who are struggling academically.
- Dependable, honest, responsible
- Possess a strong belief in every child’s capacity to succeed despite significant challenges.
- Enjoys children and has the ability to act as a positive role model and motivate students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have a high school diploma; a college degree preferably in the field of education is desirable.
- Some teaching/tutoring experience preferred.
