Days Off: 10 holidays plus winter break (10 days) and spring break (5 days)
Schedule: 8:15am - 3:45pm
Qualifications & Licensure
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Early Childhood (Birth to Grade 3, or Birth to Grade 2) and LBS1 with Pre-K or Early Childhood Special Education approval required
- Experience working with preschool-aged students with disabilities required
- Illinois English Language Learner (ELL) endorsement preferred
Reports to:
Assistant Director of Student Services
Performance Responsibilities:
- Co-teach a cross categorical classroom serving children moderately to severely impacted by special education needs in collaboration with a speech-language pathologist
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts, and social-emotional development using research-based curricula and early childhood best practices
- Implement differentiated curriculum and instructional strategies to address the developmental, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders
- Develop and implement instructional activities aligned to students' IEP goals using a structured teaching framework
- Foster each child's sense of self-worth and understanding of their role within the family and community
- Conduct ongoing observations and authentic assessments of student growth
- Fulfill all case manager responsibilities for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and during field trips to maximize student support
- Create and facilitate family engagement activities that promote meaningful parent participation in their child's education
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to enhance the overall early childhood experience for students
Terms of Employment:
10 Month Position; salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
