Job Description

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)


This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.


Unit Position Summary


Candidates are encouraged to apply if they are interested in getting advanced training in polymer synthesis and organic synthesis.


Candidates will be expected to obtain state-of-the-art training in the synthesis and characterization organic materials and/or polymer processing relevant to sustainable packaging applications under the supervision of Dr. Rabnawaz. The candidates will directly report to Dr. Rabnawaz. The positions are available for a minimum of 6 months.


Key job responsibilities include:



  • Design and perform experiments for the relevant project

  • Collect data using numerous characterization methods as well as analyze and document data

  • Present data to Dr. Rabnawaz or in conferences

  • Prepare reports and manuscripts

  • Work with other team members on joint projects


Desired Qualifications


Enrolled in a Ph.D. program or have recently completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or another relevant field.


Candidates will have an excellent theoretical understanding of the core concepts relevant to synthesizing small and large molecules and the characterization of organic materials (NMR, GPC). Candidates with prior experimental skills are also encouraged to apply, who will get advanced training, especially in sustainable material, during their stay in Dr. Rabnawaz's group
