QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Must pass Paraprofessional Assessment or complete 60 college credit hours or an Associate’s Degree
- Experience working with children preferred
- Highly motivated; able to multitask
- Demonstrates effective communication skills
- Able to lift 40 lbs. to shoulder height occasionally
- Able to operate a personal computer, laptop computer, peripheral computer equipment, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment with a high degree of accuracy
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Preschool LEAP Learning Lab is a supportive environment where students engage in learning, play, and receive assistance to foster growth and development. The aide in this lab collaborates with an Early Childhood Special Education teacher and the classroom teacher to support instructional activities, reinforce concepts through practice and repetition, and deliver personalized, targeted instruction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding child development and behavior.
- Demonstrating leadership skills with children.
- Exhibiting creativity and innovation.
- Assisting teachers with preparing instructional materials.
- Helping to create a learning environment that is both conducive to learning and appropriate for the students' maturity and interests.
- Conducting learning activities with small groups or individual students, as designed and directed by the teacher(s).
- Complying with all School Board policies and regulations.
