    Job Title:    Jr / Sr High School Special Education Teacher
    Reports to: High School Principal
    Salary:       $44,204 - $53,624
    Work year: 166 days
     
    Job Summary:
              West Grand School District 1-Jt is looking for a passionate Jr / Sr High School Special Education Teacher to help each student realize their potential and to implement the educational goals and objectives defined in the school district policy. Demonstrate the ability to accurately assess needs and provide a range of appropriate services to students. The teacher creates a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with pupils, motivates pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each student’s ability and establishes positive relationships with parents and other staff members.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Must possess a Colorado Teacher License or be able to obtain one.
    • Appropriate endorsement for the Special Education assignment.
    • Preferred Grades 7-12 school teaching experience.
    • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven problem-solving skills.
     
    Essential Functions:
    • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Ability to communicate in ways students will understand.
    • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
    • Knowledge of and experience with pre-referral interventions and behavior contracts.
    • Understands IDEA, IEP, ILP, 504 guidelines and procedures.
    • Differentiates instruction for students by employing a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of diverse learners.
    • Strong communications, public relations and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrates success in assisting English Language Learners to develop English oral proficiency and proficiency in reading, writing and math.
    • Demonstrates success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvements issues.
    • Knowledge of best practices in literacy instructions.
    • Adapt instruction to meet the individual learning needs of all students resulting in an increased probability of advancing their achievement.
    • Knowledge of MTSS
