Chirons Operator
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Assuring work area is safe.
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools.
- Calculate and set control to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds and depth.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or programs as required.
- The job requires the operation of multiple machines. Including, but not limited to the CNC milling machine, riveter, and flashing wheel.
- Close attention to detail is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools. Work involves expensive tools and fixtures. Any miscalculation can potentially cause damage to expensive machinery and tooling. Thus, mental focus is essential.
- Assist Engineering team with special projects/new products as needed.
- Determine and perform inspection of work using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during, and after machining.
- Perform hand operations involved in secondary (CNC minor) operations. Such as:
- Gluing in of shields
- Drilling center holes
- Repair orders
- Operate and adjust bone leveling machine.
- Employee is required at times to carry trays of covered scales, from the work station to the RS Trim Cover rack.
- Employee must periodically fill out maintenance and/or tool & die request forms to ensure all machines, fixtures, and tooling are within specification.
- Employee is required to clean his or her work area daily, at the end of the shift.
- Employee must maintain adherence to safety initiatives while working in his or her respective area, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Employee is required to follow all quality assurance specifications to find/prevent any defects, such as chipped or cracked covers, hole size specifications, adherence to the bill of material, and all CNC cover related standard operating procedures.
- Employee is required to report the work order, part number, and quantity of the components produced, accurately and timely.

Physical Requirements:
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of times at machines, 6+ hours daily
- Sitting: Able to sit as needed.
- Moving: Normal, able to move throughout the department as required by operation.
- Lifting: Minimal, up to 35 pounds. Lifting of trays/pans containing covered scales, welded scales, and handle materials.
- Pushing/Pulling: As required by operation.
- Visual Acuity: Normal and/or corrected vision for inspection of work /components.
- Bending/Stooping: Normal, minimal.
- Hand Action: Some processes require gripping, turning, pushing with fingertips.
Safety equipment required- Safety glasses and hearing protection.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of W.R. Case Job/Safety Orientation.
- On the job training.
