 Ocean Associates Inc. (OAI) is a government contracting firm which specializes in fisheries and oceanographic staff augmentation work.  OAI is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Executive. 

Compliance areas include paid family and medical leave requirements for employer and employee contributions, long term care programs, disability programs, paid leave accruals, training requirements, pay transparency laws and reporting of pay data, earned income tax credit (EITC) notices, various reporting requirements of individual states, as well as specific reporting requirements at the Federal level (for example, EEOC and VETS).  

Additionally, the position will include assistance and support in multiple functional areas of HR, including personnel records, benefits selection and administration, training, and other administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with compliance requirements for a government contracting firm.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify that OAI is compliant with each state in each of the areas that has specific requirements, and if not, work with the Director of Finance to set up appropriate processes and reporting.
  • Respond to employee questions.
  • Track Federal government requirements for various reports. 
  • Prepare reports and file on a timely basis as required to meet compliance requirements of specific states and Federal government.  
  • Track, document, and maintain records on employee compliance with various policies and training.
  • Research various compliance requirements for all states in which OAI has employees.
  • Monitor and report on any HR procedures with legal requirements.
  • Updating policies for illness and injury prevention, substance-free workplace, harassment, telework, and numerous different state policies. 
  • Other administrative tasks as needed.  

Start Date:  As Soon As Possible

Work Hours: 40 hours/week

Location: Work will be performed remotely

Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000

Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in business, HR, social sciences or related field.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state labor law (at least general concepts).
  • Ability to develop custom reports and prepare statistical and narrative reports.
  • Organizational skills which enable tracking and meeting specific deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in diverse HR duties.
  • Support Business Development as needed.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Certification (e.g., PHR/SPHR) is nice-to-have
