Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Make a Difference in the Lives of Others

Job Summary:

Guided Steps NJ Corp is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, empowering them to reach their individualized goals and live their best lives. Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation

  • Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities

  • Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming

  • Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills

  • Implement individualized care plans and document progress

  • Assist with medication administration as needed

  • Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license with less than 5 points

  • Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration, and insurance

  • Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests

  • Completion of required DSP training

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role (At least 1 year)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor

  • CPR and first aid certification required

  • Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.

Additional Requirements for Behavioral Cases:

  • Experience with ABA-based interventions

  • Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent training preferred)
