The AOS Technology & Media Part-Time Student is responsible for the following duties, which are performed within Canvas LMS development shells and the associated course materials:
Canvas Course Maintenance
• Update assignment due dates, availability dates, and module release dates within Canvas development shells to accurately reflect the current academic term.
• Update course home pages, including welcome messages, navigation elements, instructor information, and term-specific announcements.
• Review and verify course navigation, module structure, and published/unpublished status of course items.
Content Accessibility and Usability
• Review course content for compliance with accessibility standards, including proper use of headings, alternative text for images, descriptive link text, sufficient color contrast, and logical reading order.
• Evaluate course materials for usability, including clarity of layout, consistency of formatting, and ease of navigation for students.
• Identify and document accessibility or usability issues and escalate concerns to the supervising instructional designer or faculty member as appropriate.
Document Editing
• Edit PDF and Microsoft Word documents used as course materials, including formatting adjustments, accessibility remediation, and content updates as directed.
• Ensure that documents include appropriate heading structure, tagged elements, and other features required for assistive technology compatibility.
Links and Embedded Media
• Audit course content for broken or outdated hyperlinks and update or replace links as needed.
