Ardurra is seeking a Plan Checker II - Journey Level to join our team in Southern California!
Position Summary
Performs independent review of a broad range of civil infrastructure plans and exercises professional judgment in applying municipal standards and requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently review civil plans and technical documents
- Coordinate directly with applicants and municipal staff
- Provide responses to technical questions regarding comments and corrections
- Independently evaluate coordination between multiple civil disciplines and supporting documents
- Identify and resolve plan coordination issues affecting constructability, quantities, or compliance
- Participate in technical coordination meetings or calls with project engineers as needed
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 3–6 years of progressively responsible experience in:
- Civil plan review
- Municipal public works engineering
- Private land development or infrastructure design
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Grading and drainage design
- Stormwater management and LID requirements
- Water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience supporting California cities, counties, or special districts
- Familiarity with:
- Greenbook (Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction)
- Caltrans standards and specifications
- County drainage, hydrology, or flood control manuals
- Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a consultant support role
Salary Range
$80,000 to $110,000 (DOE)
