Job Description

Ardurra is seeking a Plan Checker II - Journey Level to join our team in Southern California!

Position Summary
Performs independent review of a broad range of civil infrastructure plans and exercises professional judgment in applying municipal standards and requirements.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently review civil plans and technical documents
  • Coordinate directly with applicants and municipal staff
  • Provide responses to technical questions regarding comments and corrections
  • Independently evaluate coordination between multiple civil disciplines and supporting documents
  • Identify and resolve plan coordination issues affecting constructability, quantities, or compliance
  • Participate in technical coordination meetings or calls with project engineers as needed

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • 3–6 years of progressively responsible experience in:
    • Civil plan review
    • Municipal public works engineering
    • Private land development or infrastructure design
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Grading and drainage design
    • Stormwater management and LID requirements
    • Water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience supporting California cities, counties, or special districts
  • Familiarity with:
    • Greenbook (Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction)
    • Caltrans standards and specifications
    • County drainage, hydrology, or flood control manuals
  • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a consultant support role

Salary Range

$80,000 to $110,000 (DOE)
