Key Responsibilities

The Correctional Health Services Division is seeking to hire a Senior Registered Nurse to perform a full range of advanced and supervisory tasks for health programs or nursing assignments within Clinical Services at the State Prison in Salt Lake City, Utah. The individual hired will exercise independent professional discretion based on licensure in general duty settings and clinical nursing settings for the Correctional Health Services Division. May also direct/supervise medical staff.

• Have strong supervisory and management skills
  
• Have the ability to coordinate clinical activities and follow-up.
  
• Have skill in directing staff assignments based on priority of care
  
• Have critical thinking skills in resolving clinical issues
  
• Understand triage principles and actions
  
• Be a positive motivator
  
• Have a solid understanding of principles, theories, and practices of nursing
  
• Have the ability to assess staffing needs and patterns; make appropriate staff assignments.

Please note:  An offer of employment will be contingent on the applicant successfully passing a DHHS background check, pre-employment drug testing, and a Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) background screening.

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

• A minimum of one year of licensure and clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Preference will be given to candidates with one year of acute care medical, psychiatric, EMS and correctional health experience

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: 

•  BLS, ACLS, TNCC certifications
