Hope In Her is a nonprofit organization committed to eradicating health inequities and improving the lives of Black girls and women. Through trauma-informed programming, advocacy, and direct services, we work to dismantle the systems that perpetuate the adultification of Black girls, gender-based violence, and community disinvestment.



Position Summary

Interns at Hope in Her play a vital role in supporting our programs, research, outreach, and advocacy efforts. This internship is ideal for students seeking real-world experience in social work, public health, nonprofit administration, communications, marketing, and related fields. We offer customized learning opportunities aligned with students’ academic goals and concentrations (e.g., direct practice, macro/policy, youth development, digital media).



Key Responsibilities


Responsibilities will vary based on discipline and learning contract but may include:



Program Support & Community Engagement

  • Assist with planning and facilitating workshops or support groups
  • Develop educational materials and wellness toolkits
  • Help coordinate community initiatives



Research, Evaluation & Policy

  • Conduct literature reviews or policy scans
  • Assist with program evaluation tools, surveys, and data entry
  • Draft advocacy content or legislative summaries



Creative Projects & Communications

  • Support podcast production, blog writing, or digital storytelling
  • Create graphics, social media content, or outreach campaigns
  • Help manage organizational files and program documentation



Administrative & Nonprofit Development

  • Support scheduling, logistics, or file organization
  • Help write or edit grant proposals and reports
  • Document and improve internal processes (SOPs)



Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (BSW, MSW, MPH, MPA, BA/BS in Psychology, Public Policy, Communications, etc.)
  • Strong commitment to racial equity, healing justice, and trauma-informed care
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage remote work tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with tools such as Zoom, Google Drive, Slack, Trello, or Canva (training available)


Supervision & Support

  • Weekly 1:1 supervision with licensed clinical social worker (LCSW/DSW)
  • Opportunities for peer learning and group debriefing
  • Trauma-informed feedback and professional development support
  • Learning contract tailored to academic program and goals
