Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1st shift Utility Picker Feeder at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the operation of numerous types of equipment used in the manufacture of fiber/filter products.

Position Scope: Position maintains a daily communication with the Department Manager/Supervisor and all department personnel to make sure the needs of all internal and external customers are met through the manufacture of fiber products using a variety of machine, ovens and saws to produce finished products. The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Maintain hoppers filled with fiber

Unload fiber trucks

Ability to learn multiple jobs 

Physically able to stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.) and perform repetitive task for extended periods. 

Prerequisites:

a) Education: Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school education or GED.

Experience:

Prior machine operation experience is a plus.

Prior forklift experience is a plus. 

Prior experience in fiber is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.

Must have basic math skills

Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.

Must be able to work in a non air-conditioned manufacturing facility

Must be able to work in environments that may be subject to temperature fluctuations. 

Non-Essential

• Assists with inventory, as required.
• Makes sure the department is clean and orderly. 
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Hourly Rate: $22.02 - 22.75

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or depending on business needs
