The Logistics Assistant Manager (Dispatch) serves as the primary dispatch and daily coordination lead for Joe Coffee Catering. This role is responsible for overseeing the real-time movement of company vehicles, equipment, and field teams to ensure timely and accurate event execution.

While the Logistics Manager maintains ownership of warehouse operations and physical asset management, the Logistics Assistant Manager oversees daily dispatch decisions, routing, timing, and logistical coordination. This position operates at the intersection of warehouse operations and field execution, ensuring that event plans are translated into successful on-the-ground deployment.

This role requires strong decision-making skills, operational oversight, and the ability to manage high-volume logistics in a fast-paced NYC environment.

  • Communicate dispatch instructions clearly and professionally to field leadership

  • Approve or coordinate logistical adjustments during transit or load-in (e.g., timing changes, equipment reallocations, vehicle use)

  • Act as the first point of contact for field staff during transit-related issues.

Tactical Logistics Management

  • Coordinate execution of variable (event-based) and fixed (residency-based) catering operations

  • Anticipate and resolve logistical challenges, including route changes, equipment gaps, or vehicle delays

  • Partner with the Logistics Manager to implement contingency plans when needed

  • Ensure that field teams depart on time with accurate and complete equipment and inventory

Warehouse & Asset Oversight

  • Oversee daily warehouse readiness to ensure all equipment is packed, organized, and event-ready

  • Supervise Drivers and Logistics Assistants to ensure accuracy of packing lists and load-outs

  • Support inventory control procedures, including equipment counts and condition checks

  • Escalate asset concerns or equipment maintenance needs to the Logistics Manager

  • Maintain readiness to execute urgent equipment deliveries or operational recoveries when necessary.

  • Provide clear expectations and maintain accountability for accuracy and timeliness

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Catering Events leadership and Field Team Leads

  • Foster a professional, safety-focused, and solutions-oriented work environment.

Authority & Operational Interface

  • Reports directly to the Logistics Manager

  • Has supervisory authority over Logistics Drivers and Assistants

  • Maintains operational authority over dispatch timing and vehicle deployment decisions

  • Collaborates with Catering Events leadership to ensure event briefs are translated into actionable logistics plans

  • Coordinates with Field Team Leads regarding dispatch timing and equipment requirements
