JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services or Program
Specialist, provides psychological testing, consultation and related services at assigned school sites.



TYPICAL DUTIES:
Assessment and Reports:



• Assesses intellectual, educational and social/emotional characteristics of students and reviews
other relevant information necessary for evaluating those students referred for a special education
evaluation due to a suspected disability.
• Performs diagnostic evaluations for identification and assistance in remediation of academic
difficulties, behavior needs and social emotional development.
• Interprets the results of psychological assessments and provides effective recommendations to
students, other staff members and parents/guardians.
• Reviews and responds to requests for assessment, with team members’ input and under the
direction of the Program Specialist
• Meets all legal timelines and expectations for assessments, IEP’s, reports and other applicable practices.
• Participates in the development and revision of the Individualized Education Program for students
with exceptional needs.
• Maintains organized filing and documentation system for all related work duties.



Counseling and Social-Emotional Supports:



• Provides, as assigned, individual and group counseling to students. Will focus on the IEP
counseling goals, maintain progress notes, service tracking, and write PLP’s and IEP goals for IEP
meetings in a timely and effective manner.
• Conducts ERMHS assessments and develops ERMHS reports; provides ERMHS services as
assigned.
• Provides coaching and support to parents/guardians as needed and as assigned through the IEP.



Team Work and Leadership:



• Coordinates and assists with referrals to private or community agencies, such as therapeutic or
wrap-around services, for further assistance, as needed.
• Works with members of the IEP team and family, building rapport and having regular
collaboration meetings; demonstrates strong, clear communication
• Demonstrates data-based decision-making, and modeling for IEP teams on how to gather and use
data for student academic or behavioral interventions
• Collaborates with school site staff & leaders, supervisor(s) and with role-alike team members,
demonstrating strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Participates in the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support meetings for the school site(s) as needed, such
as SST meetings, and offers evidence-based practices to staff for appropriate interventions;
ultimately assisting with an effective Child Find system.
• Provides professional development to school site teams and/or related service providers, as
assigned.
• Maintains own professional competence through participation in District, regional or state
sponsored in-service activities. Stays abreast of best practices and applicable laws through peerreviewed resources & authorities, such as NASP and CASP.
Performs other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree and CA Pupil Personnel Services credential is required.
Experience in K-12 school setting as a school psychologist.
Individual or group counseling experience.
