Juneau International Airport is looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic II to join their team.


Under the general direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs skilled repairs and preventive maintenance on airport terminal systems and facilities. Work includes maintaining and servicing heat pumps, boilers, circulation pumps, and related mechanical equipment, as well as coordinating with facility tenants to ensure building systems operate efficiently and reliably. The incumbent supports safe, comfortable, and fully functional terminal operations through responsive maintenance and proactive facility care and serves in a lead capacity during the absence of the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

The position is based at Juneau International Airport and generally works Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Work hours may vary to coordinate with shift schedules or respond to airport emergencies.

Position Duties

The Maintenance Mechanic II performs skilled maintenance and repair work on airport terminal facilities and systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for the traveling public, tenants, and staff. 


The position maintains, repairs and services building mechanical systems including heat pumps, boilers, circulation pumps, HVAC units, and other related components to ensure reliable building operations year-round.


This role also performs routine and preventive maintenance on terminal equipment, lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems, responding to service calls and coordinating work with tenants, lessees, and contractors to minimize disruption. 


The position assists with capital improvements and special projects within the terminal division, ensuring compliance with municipal and building code standards.


The incumbent provides technical guidance and support to other maintenance personnel and assumes a lead role in the absence of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, assigning daily tasks, overseeing work quality, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. 


The position maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, assists in ordering materials and supplies, and contributes to planning and scheduling of preventive maintenance programs.


The Maintenance Mechanic II works closely with Airport Administration, tenants, and CBJ departments to address facility needs, ensure efficient operations, and uphold the professional standards of the Juneau International Airport. Performs other related duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications

Experience:    

Four (4) years of extensive experience in the construction and repair of buildings and structures or components.

Other:            

Must possess and maintain own set of hand tools.

A valid Driver's License at the time of appointment and for continued employment.

OSHA Requirements

Certification (as available) in CPR, First Aid, and Confined Space.


Note for Airport Maintenance Mechanic II positions:  

Employment is subject to completion of a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) and a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), including an FBI fingerprint-based background check, in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 1542 and 1544 and the Airport Security Program. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining eligibility for unescorted access to secured areas of the airport.
