Job Description

Join a school reimagining education

Slope School is building a different kind of learning environment—one where students take ownership of their learning, families are deeply aligned with the mission, and educators are trusted as professionals. This is an opportunity to work in a small, close-knit community focused on helping young people learn how to learn, think critically, and grow into capable, self-directed individuals. We are looking for experienced educators who are ready to take on a high-ownership role with meaningful autonomy.

About the Role

The Campus Director is a dual-role position combining studio leadership (~70%) and campus-level leadership (~30%).

You will serve as a Lead Guide in your studio—working directly with students each day—while also supporting school operations, enrollment, and the development of other Guides.

We are looking for candidates who could serve as Campus Director to the lower school (pre-K through 4th) or upper school (5th through 8th). This role is ideal for seasoned educators with 5-8 years of experience who are looking to be part of an innovative educational organization and develop further in their career.

What You’ll Do

Studio Leadership (Majority of Role)

  • Lead a studio of students through daily learning experiences, including discussions, project-based work, and core skills
  • Design and prepare learning experiences (projects, writing, discussions, exhibitions)
  • Track student progress using academic and character data; coach students through goal-setting and challenges
  • Build a strong studio culture focused on ownership, respect, and accountability
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and key events

Campus Leadership (~30%)

  • Support enrollment efforts, including leading tours and helping assess fit for prospective students and families
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to Assistant, Apprentice, and Lead Guides
  • Help maintain strong campus-wide systems, culture, and consistency
  • Contribute to planning, operations, and budget awareness
  • Organize school-wide events, communication, and execution

What Makes This Role Different

  • Lead and influence: Shape both a classroom and the broader school environment
  • More autonomy: Operate with trust and ownership, without heavy bureaucracy
  • Strong culture: Work with mission-aligned families and a values-driven team
  • Broader impact: Play a key role in team development, enrollment, and school growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Significant prior teaching experience required
  • Experience leading or mentoring other educators strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

You May Be a Fit If You:

  • Take full ownership of outcomes and operate with an “at-cause” mindset
  • Are both a strong classroom leader and an effective coach for other adults
  • Balance warmth with clarity and accountability - comfortable having tough conversations
  • Are highly organized, proactive, and reliable
  • Are energized by building systems and driving change

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary: Starts at $80,000 + benefits
  • Schedule: Full-time (8:00am–4:00pm)
  • 10-month school year, with June as a working month and July off
  • Paid holidays and school breaks
