Job Description

1.    Oversees the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the department.
2.    Provides direct patient care on average 50% of the time and performs all duties of a staff therapist. 
3.    Participates in the development and implementation of new inpatient programs and services.
4.    Ensures that the quality of inpatient programs and services meet state-of-the-art, quality assurance, and regulatory standards.
5.    Contributes in a positive manner to the Hospital’s external image through the maintenance of high customer satisfaction, and active participation on committees and in programs to support our mission.
6.    Effectively controls costs through economical utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment.
7.    Assists management in effectively managing the budget for the site.
8.    Assists in hiring, evaluating, and supervising a highly effective and productive staff.
9.    Maintains department statistics and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
10.    Shares clinical information with staff through rounds, in-services, workshops, or other formal or informal process.
11.    Ensures accurate and timely documentation and billing procedures within the department.
12.    Works closely and effectively with the Director to enforce policies, rules, and regulations to ensure a safe environment and high morale among staff.
13.    Leads others to create a shared drive and purpose, stimulate others to achieve their highest potential, and inspire others through a vision of success.
14.    Maximizes the potential and productivity of each employee by clearly communicating goals, objectives, and performance standards. 
15.    Maximizes the diverse talents of all team members and works effectively with peers, subordinates, and management throughout the organization.
16.    Communicates effectively and positively in all situations.
17.    Effectively manages own time and the time of others through clearly identifying and communicating projects, assignments, goals, and standards.
18.    Supports the hospital’s mission statement, philosophy, and goals.
19.    Assists in the orientation of new staff.  
20.    Attends meetings as required. 
21.    Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
22.    Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
23.    Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
 


•    Ability to read, write and communicate in English
•    Ability to communicate in English to understand and respond to basic verbal and written English language instruction
•    Entry level degree from an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology program.  
•    (Preferred) – A Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology
•    Currently licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
•    5 years clinical practice experience in the acute care hospital setting
•    (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification
•    Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested
