Description

The Unit Clerk serves as the primary clerical and administrative support to the Acute Care Unit.  This role helps ensure smooth day-to-day operations by coordinating communication, maintaining patient records, and supporting clinical staff.

Requirements

Job Description: 

·         Serve as the primary administrative contact for the acute care unit

·         Coordinate communication between nurses, physicians, and other departments

·         Complete Acute Care inventory on a weekly basis

·         Manage and keep forms up to date

·         Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

·         Coordinate scheduling of patients for outpatient nursing care

·         Manage prior authorization for outpatient procedures/infusions

·         Work with billing to determine the estimation of cost for outpatient nursing care

·         Answer phone calls and track faxes and incoming orders

·         Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations

·         Other job duties as assigned

I     Ideal hours 12-8pm M-F

Summary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·         CPR/BLS Healthcare Certification – can obtain upon hire

·         High school diploma or equivalency

·         Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

·         Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVHC staff.

·         Basic knowledge in computer use; including skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications

·         Excellent organizational skills

·         Ability to maintain and follow guidelines, set standards of practice in quality patient care, and state, federal, and facility required infection control practices

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·         Combination of Medical office background and clinical/surgical experience

·         General clinical secretarial and office management skills including knowledge of insurance billing and allocation/adjustments of physician charge sheets.

·         Additional languages – Spanish Preferred
