Job Description

Summary:



  • 2026/2027 School Year

  • Location: Sequoyah

  • 4 year old preschool class

  • 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday

  • At-Will employee w/benefits


 


Qualifications



  • Must hold one of the following:

    • A valid Michigan teaching certificate with ZA or ZS endorsement or

    • A bachelor’s degree majoring in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.



  • Early Childhood Education experience 1 year, preferred

  • If no applicants meet the above educational requirements, a Lead Teacher Preschool Plan (PEPP) can be completed by the person hired without meeting the above requirements.  Progress toward the completion of the PEPP shall consist of at least two credit-bearing courses per calendar year from an approved training instiution or agency.  The PEPP must result in the attainment of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in early childhood education or child development or an early childhood or lower elementary endorsement on a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate. 

  • Ability to communicate well with young children and adults required

  • Ability to work in a team, problem solve, and handle situations that may arise


Job Duties:



  • Plan, supervise, and implement developmentally appropriate lessons using Creative Curriculum

  • Support students in their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development

  • Provide leadership and guidance to associate teacher

  • Complete home visits and family conferences according to GSRP requirements

  • Collect anecdotal notes and enter them into Teaching Strategies Gold

  • Communicate with parents and families regularly

  • Maintain current CPR & first-aid certification

  • Meet PD requirements

  • Meet all MISD, LARA, and GSTQ requirements for the program

  • Complete other duties as assigned


 



  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.
