Full-time position starting at $26.22/hr. - $29.17/hr. (D.O.E.) 

Volunteer Services is a community-based service that provides free volunteer transportation, chore assistance and case management for low-income older adults and adults with disabilities, with the primary goal of ensuring that they retain dignity and residence in the familiar surroundings of their home or apartment. The program is unique in also serving adults under age 60 who have disabilities. VS ensures that vulnerable adults who cannot afford to pay for help with tasks they cannot complete on their own, and do not qualify for state paid services receive services that support their health and well-being and allow them to remain living independently.

How YOU can make a difference:

As a Transportation Program Coordinator, you will provide support in managing volunteer-based transportation services for approximately 150 clients in King County. The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing a network of an average of 90 ongoing volunteers and 400 episodic volunteers annually to provide transportation support to older adults living with chronic health conditions and disabilities in King County.

Case Management & Support: Screen, assess, and provide ongoing support to clients through home visits, monitoring, and referrals.

Volunteer Recruitment &Coordination: Establish strategies to recruit, train, and manage a network of volunteer drivers to meet service needs in King County.

Community Outreach & Partnership: Build partnerships with African American Elders Program and community groups to recruit volunteers and new clients.

Program Oversight & Data Management: Oversee the human services bus ticket program and maintain accurate records of services, case notes, and partner data in the database.

Team Collaboration & Management: Maintain a position working relationships with staff, collaborative members, community partners, and contribute to a culturally diverse, supportive work environment.

 

Job Conditions

This position requires the employee to work in an office environment where there is noise from telephones and conversations among employees and clients as well as working in the community.   Working conditions may include interruptions.  Extensive use of telephones, computers and related office equipment is typical of this position.

  • Strong customer service, MS Office, and database skills.
  • WA Driver's License, auto insurance, access to insured vehicle for outreach and community meetings. Ability to comply with agency employee driving policy.
  • Ability to travel King County (including evening/weekends).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in second language.
  • Experience working with non-profit agencies.
  • Work or volunteer experience with elders and adults with disabilities.
  • Experience in event planning and/or project management.
  • Experience in public speaking/making presentations.
