    P.B.S.I. Instructional Assistant


    The position of a P.B.S.I. (Positive Behavior Support Initiative) Instructional Assistant will be availableat East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website.  The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.  

    PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons.  Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment.  Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher on a daily basis.   

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
        1.    Assume the responsibility of students assigned to the in-school suspension program.
        2.    Maintain a daily student log for attendance, lesson assignments, and behavior.
        3.    Coordinate daily with teachers of assigned students for assignments, materials, and/or special instructional needs.
        4.    Assist students when necessary for accurate and timely completion of assignments.
        5.    Inform students of classroom rules and maintain strict discipline in the classroom at all times.
        6.    Assist the Principal where needed.
        7.    When students are not assigned to the program, perform duties as classroom assistants on the assigned schedule.
        8.    Works with students on appropriate classroom behavior.
        9.    Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the supplemental position.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:
    High school diploma or GED
    Must have one of the following:

    • 48 college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area
    • Treasuring our Paraprofessional certificate

    Educational Aide Certificate
    Ability to communicate effectively
    Perform duties with a minimum of supervision

     
    EQUIPMENT USED:  Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, standard instructional equipment  

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting.  Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.  May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students.  Exposure to biological hazards.  Work predominantly inside and exposure to noise; may work outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather.  

    PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:  187 Days 
    SALARY: Pay Grade 202
