Job Description

Required Qualification: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Neuroscience, Virology or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.  Demonstrated experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal studies with peer-reviewed publications.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience in cardiovascular biology, neuroscience, virology, or multi-organ disease mechanisms.

Position Summary:
The Postdoctoral Associate will work closely with the Principal Investigator Dr. Chiung-Kuei Huang in the Department of Medicine-Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology to conduct innovative, cross-disciplinary research while ensuring all experiments comply with institutional policies and procedures. The role includes conducting experiments in chronic liver disease and alcohol-associated liver disease, with an emphasis on multi-organ interactions involving the brain and cardiovascular system. Responsibilities also include data collection and analysis, literature review, contributing to manuscript and grant writing (including grant application for their own), and maintaining laboratory operations such as equipment upkeep and supply management.

The successful candidate will possess a proactive, solution-orientated approach to research challenges, demonstrate strong scientific rigor, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and time-management abilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail. This role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.

Specific Duties:

     Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of chronic liver disease.

     Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

     Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related fields to analyze the collected data.

     Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

     Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
