About the Department

The purpose of this position is to maintain the City's parks and exterior grounds areas.  This is accomplished by performing routine maintenance on the City's parks and the amenities located within them.  Other duties include assisting other divisions as needed, and interacting with other City employees and citizens.

Position Duties

• Maintains grounds by picking up litter; cleaning and repairing restrooms; emptying trash barrels; maintaining athletic fields; mowing grass; trimming trees; planting shrubs and flowers; and maintaining turf.
  
  
• Provides customer service to the public by providing information as requested; and ensuring the security of guests.
  
  
• All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.
  
  
• Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours are essential.
  
  
• Utilizes a variety of common landscape and grounds maintenance equipment, such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, pole saws, sprayers, pressure washers, wood chippers, trucks, trailers, and trenchers. 
  
  
• Maintains grounds by pressure washing solid surfaces, removing graffiti, assisting with irrigation repair work, painting park amenities, and applying pesticide products.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
