Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth income statement variance analysis and investigated discrepancies.
- Work with business leaders to develop, adjust, and present the annual budget.
- Lead monthly meetings with plant personnel and management to review the monthly budget vs. actual results.
- Work closely with the Controller, Director of Accounting, and other Assistant Controllers to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for various companies.
- Manage cost accounting and inventory analysis.
- Prepare quarterly Board of Managers financial statements, schedules, PowerPoint slides, and analysis.
- Adhere to deadlines established for the monthly close calendar.
- Participate in the year-end external audit and provide necessary support to comply with requests for information.
- Identify and implement improved processes and workflows to streamline accounting operations.
- Respond to upper management requests and questions regarding accounting-related practices and processes.
- Research accounting issues as needed.
- Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as requested.
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Degree in Accounting.
- CPA license.
- 10+ years’ experience in industry/accounting firm.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Financial Modeling, etc.).
- SAP experience preferred.
- Variance analysis experience required.
- Manufacturing experience required.
Working Conditions
- Standard office hours for this role are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday, or as adjusted and mutually agreed upon by the supervisor.
- Due to year-end close deadlines, there will be vacation blackout periods in late December and in January.
- This position requires on-site presence five days per week during the first 90 days of employment to support onboarding and training.
- After the initial 90-day period, the role typically transitions to a hybrid work schedule. Three to four days per week in the office are required.
- When working from home, the employee should remain active on Microsoft Teams, respond to internal and external messages within one to two hours, and complete all daily assigned tasks within expected quality and timeliness standards.
- Working from home must be seamless and free of disruptions. All team members, internal and external customers, should continue to receive excellent customer service without compromise. If any issues affect our ability to deliver that level of service, remote work will no longer be an option, and the employee will be required to work full-time in the office. This includes technical or connectivity issues, among others.
- The person in this role is also expected to be available to work at the office when needed for special projects, training, meetings, or any other work-related requirements.
- Wednesday is the core day to work in the office with coworkers.
- The option to work from home is subject to change or deletion at any time by TUM.
- All employees are expected to use Microsoft Teams as the primary platform for:
- Real-time collaboration with colleagues.
- Prompt communication through chats, calls, and group messages.
- Consistent engagement on Teams is essential to ensuring transparency, productivity, and team alignment regardless of work location.
- Must handle multiple communication inputs and juggle numerous requests daily.
- Must create and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, customers, and peers across the team and company.
- Reports to Texas United Management Corporation's Vice President – Treasurer & Controller.
