Excise Duty Compliance SME
In this role You will:
Supporting the Excise Duty Compliance Manager in the safe delivery of excise duty compliance obligations which fall within the team’s remit. This may include liaison with the third-party service provider and coaching to other members of the team.
Responsible for the timely delivery of the excise duty compliance tasks for bp entities in a specific market.
This includes the responsibility to liaise with other teams across the bp organisation (finance and business) to collect information required to prepare and file returns relating to excise duty compliance.
Carrying out trend analyses on a periodical basis. The analyses serve as a control to have a sense check and validate that the data to be reported is reasonable.
Liaise with partners with a view to remain up to date on business activities of entitles operating in the market.
Responsible for the review, sign-off and submission of excise duty filings in line with the local regulation. Following the submission, takes care to setup payment in line with the internal requirement and instructs the relevant teams on the accounting tasks.i.e. ledger reconciliations.
Represent bp in internal and external Tax audits. Prepare and provide detailed answers to Tax Authority queries; support partners to collect information required. .
Responsible for issue resolutions and queries that may require reference to Excise Duty local country requirements and need to provide evidence and documentation for the end-to-end issue resolution, initiate proper problem investigation. Coordinate partner groups to ensure resolution of issues.
Responsible for keeping standard operating procedure documentation up to date
Collect data and report KPIs on a regular basis to the Team lead about queries and issues appeared during the analysed period on a standard way
Assist in the execution of continuous improvement projects
What You need to be successful:
Relevant degree and experience in Excise Duty Compliance activities
Experience in Excise Tax, Process and project management
Other tax compliance and reporting activities (such as VAT, environmental tax, direct taxes, WHT, etc) is an advantage.
Fluency in English
Excellent level of analytical skills, numeracy, and good financial understanding
A good understanding of taxation across all aspects of indirect taxes and excise duty
Solid problem-solving skills. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across matrix organizations
