JOB DESCRIPTION: PARAEDUCATOR
QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate. College: 2 years, Parapro Exam in
lieu of 2 years of college
JOB GOAL: To assist the classroom teacher(s) in supporting the
individualized academic, social, behavioral and adaptive
needs of the students within the school environment
REPORTS TO: Teacher(s)/Case Manager to whom the student(s) is
assigned
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Per Paraeducator’s Professional Contract
SUPERVISES: N/A
EVALUATED BY: Building Principals with input from Case Manager in
collaboration with classroom teacher(s) to whom the student
is assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implements instruction developed by teacher to individual(s)
• Implements and maintains behavior plan developed by teacher/team
• Implements and maintains health management protocols when required
• Implements and maintains adaptive protocols when required
• Implements other supports as described in student’s IEP, i.e., assistance at
lunch, recess, arrival to and or departure from school
• Records behavioral/health data as requested by teacher
• Perform clerical tasks as they pertain to the support of the assigned
student(s)
• Communicates observations/concerns to case manager and teacher for the
benefit of the student(s)
• Collaborates with student’s team to facilitate progress
• Other duties as assigned
