Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  SQL Database Administrator II 

SCOPE

The Database Administrator works with a larger operations group, this position will support the database environment for multiple high volume e-commerce and back office applications. Database Administrator will need to identify database related issues in a timely manner, participate in monitoring and process changes to prevent reoccurrence.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Installing and configuring SQL Server, applying patches and fixes and monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance
• Implementing backup plans, developing and testing disaster recovery scenarios, managing security, server sizing, and performance tuning.
• Will be required to proactively communicate with business users, stakeholders, technical peers and project teams
• Participates in the design, development and delivery of Reporting Services & Analysis Services, Schema modeling, stored procedures, SSIS packages, triggers and views.
• Maintains contemporary knowledge of industry trends, concepts, and techniques
• Experience/Knowledge with high transaction volumes and clustered SQL Server 2012/14/16 environments is preferred
• Self-starter and able to address and troubleshoot system issues.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments and effectively manage own time and priorities

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a technical or equivalent discipline.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a DBA. 
 
 
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS


• High volume commercial experience with cluster services, mirroring, and log shipping.
• Solid understanding of contemporary database administration methodology.
• Commercial Experience with Microsoft SQL 2014, 2016 and/or 2017
• TSQL Programming; writing, debugging all mandatory (Index support, Query Plan analysis)
• Production Cluster Support (AG and Traditional failover technology) with Geolocation
• Support Operations and Development
• Building / Supporting SSIS for ETL and C# / VB Script experience
