Overview: We are looking for a
qualified and experienced Physicist to work in our fast-paced out-patient
oncology clinic. The Medical Physicist conducts all aspects of radiation therapy physics,
including clinical medical physics support, equipment calibration and
commissioning, maintenance of appropriate quality assurance programs for
equipment and treatment delivery, compliance with radiation safety, licensing
issues and other pertinent regulatory requirements.
Schedule: Full-time,
Monday through Friday day shift position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all physics of radiotherapy treatments.
- Responsible for Calibration and QA of all treatment devices.
- Responsible for Calibration and QA of treatment simulators.
- Responsible for Calibration and QA of treatment planning systems.
- Responsible for Calibration and QA of the physics test equipment.
- Review of treatment plan calculations.
- Review of weekly chart checks.
- Commissioning of new radiologic systems.
- Establish new commission & QA criteria for new radiologic programs.
- Establish new treatment protocols for safe and effective treatment delivery.
- Consult with and assist radiation therapists, dosimetrists and radiation oncologists.
- Provide training for new clinical systems and programs.
- Provide radiation safety training.
- Provide
treatment planning for special procedures like HDR and SBRT.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to communicate frequently with front office staff, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, other physicists and radiation oncologists. Must be able accurately exchange detailed information in each situation.
- Must remain calm and solve problems in highly stressful situations with limited time.
- Constantly working around occupational levels of radiation exposure and hazardous materials.
- Constantly operates computer and office equipment.
- Must be able to maintain stationary position for up 6 hours per day.
- Must be able to read medical charts on a computer screen for up to 6 hours per day.
- Ability to
use office equipment, computer, and typing is essential.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Medical Physics or closely related field.
- 2 years clinical experience.
