Description
The Metrics and Analytics Specialist supports the Federal Agency by collecting, analyzing, and reporting performance data related to Agency communications, outreach, and engagement activities. This position provides analytical expertise to evaluate the effectiveness of digital campaigns, media outreach, events, and stakeholder engagement efforts, helping leadership understand how communications activities influence awareness, attitudes, and engagement among key audiences.
Working closely with communications professionals, digital media staff, and Agency program offices, the Metrics and Analytics Specialist transforms complex data into actionable insights that inform communications strategies, enhance audience engagement, and improve the effectiveness of Agency’s outreach to policymakers, the scientific community, industry, the media, and the public.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, track, and analyze data related to communications and outreach activities including events, web campaigns, social media engagement, press coverage, and other public affairs initiatives.
- Monitor and aggregate performance data across digital platforms and communications channels.
- Maintain structured datasets that track key indicators of audience reach, engagement, and campaign effectiveness.
- Provide expertise in measuring attitudes, engagement, and behavioral responses among key audiences, including: members of Congress and congressional staff, policymakers and federal agencies, scientific and academic communities, industry partners, media organizations, and public stakeholders
- Analyze trends and engagement patterns to help refine and enhance communications strategies.
- Evaluate communication plans, digital engagement campaigns, projects, and communications products to assess effectiveness and impact.
- Develop performance measurement frameworks and evaluation criteria aligned with communications objectives.
- Draft evaluation reports that clearly summarize findings and recommendations for leadership.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and visualizations that present key performance indicators (KPIs), engagement trends, and communications insights.
- Provide integrated analytical support to track and report the status of communications campaigns and projects.
- Analyze digital engagement policies, processes, and procedures to identify opportunities to improve performance measurement practices.

Bachelors degree in a related field
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience developing communication strategies and products for science-focused organizations.
