Title: FXD Paralegal - Social Justice Initiatives


VP Area: School of Law

Job Purpose:


Performs paralegal duties for Advocacy, Immigration, and LGBTQ+ clinics within the Center for Civil and Human Rights (CCHR) and assists with other social justice initiatives and clinics in the Gonzaga Law School. Assists the CCHR and social justice-based work of faculty members and law students and performs a broad range of administrative duties, including grant application and reporting.






Essential Functions:



  • 50% - Administrative support

    • Performs a wide range of complex paralegal duties requiring independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature.

    • Perform complex word processing tasks such as complex court pleadings, briefs, letters.

    • Manages correspondence for various clinics.

    • Maintains professional and accurate records including confidential reports and information, both in electronic and written format. Scheduling of appointments, calendars, meetings, travel and other events, including the procurement of logistical needs.



  • 20% - Grant Reporting

    • Prepare grant reports and grant and periodic statistical reports and annual grant renewal applications.

    • Use spreadsheet database software for related grants.



  • 20% - Legal Word Processing

    • Ensures that legal documents are prepared according to established formats and court procedures.

    • Checks legal citations and references, ensures that legal documents are prepared in accordance with established formats.

    • Files documents electronically in various courts.



  • 10% - Additional duties as assigned

Educational Requirement:


Vocational, Associates, or Technical Degree






Years of Related Experience Requirement:


1 year


In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.

Paralegal Certificate






Skills & Abilities:


 






Preferred Qualifications:


College course work in related field.
Status as registered paralegal.
Current Notary Public.
Proficient in creating table of contents and table of authorities.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $23.12/hr-$26.00/hr


Pay Range:


Minimum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 48080


Midpoint Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 60100


Maximum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 72120


Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 23.12


Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 28.89


Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 34.67
