Position Summary:
We are looking for a licensed Pharmacist or Pharmacist in Charge with multi-state licensure and a strong clinical background to join our pharmacy operations team in Albuquerque, NM. This role is vital in supporting high-volume dispensing, compliance across multiple states, and ensuring the highest standards in medication safety. Candidates with experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding will be strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Operations & Clinical Oversight
- Interpret and verify prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, dosage, drug interactions, and allergies.
- Provide patient counseling on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and contraindications.
- Conduct medication reviews and participate in therapy management for complex cases.
Regulatory Compliance Across Multiple States
- Maintain active licensure and ensure compliance with pharmacy practice laws in:
Required: New Mexico
Strongly Preferred: Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska, Oregon, Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio - Serve as Alternate PIC and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the primary PIC.
- Collaborate with the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide operational support and guidance to pharmacy staff to ensure continuity and compliance.
Sterile Compounding & Cleanroom Oversight
- Oversee and/or participate in sterile compounding operations.
- Maintain aseptic technique and enforce proper gowning, cleaning, and quality control procedures.
- Assist in training pharmacy technicians in cleanroom procedures and safety protocols.
- Expert working knowledge of USP 795, 797, 800.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Perform quality audits, medication reconciliation, and compliance checks.
- Support initiatives for continuous improvement in workflow, medication safety, and patient satisfaction.
Participate in internal and external inspections, including state boards and accreditation bodies.
