Job Description

Position Summary:

The Food Sourcing department is responsible for enacting various strategies across the food system to acquire both non-perishable and perishable food to meet our neighbor’s need. This team develops ongoing relationships with various food vendors, food donors, & government entities to source food. The Food Industry and Commodities Coordinator’s main duties are to assist the Manager, Food Industry and Donor Relationships with the vetting of Food Industry donations and collaborating with the Government Programs Manager to complete orders for Government Commodity food offers.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Assist Manager Food Industry and Donor Relationships as needed to develop and foster ongoing relationships with Food Industry donors through phone/email communication
  • Monitor Donate Food email inbox to react quickly to any incoming food donation offers
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure best practices are followed to effectively steward food donation relationships; assist Manager Food Industry and Donor Relationships with cultivating donor relationships and opportunities as needed
  • Work cross-departmentally with Community Partnerships, Transportation, Inventory Control/Quality Control, and Warehousing as needed for all incoming Food Industry.
  • Professionally represent Philabundance while working with Food Industry donors and other external organizations
  • Trouble-shoot to quickly resolve any Food Industry donor issues as they arise, including support between Warehousing, Transportation, and Third-Party Logistic Partners
  • Support Food Industry team to build relationships with food industry partners and business community members
  • Assist Warehousing and Inventory Control/Quality Control teams as needed to maintain effective and efficient receiving practices, standard operating procedures including but not limited to donor and product identification, accurate product counts, and safe product handling.
  • Ability to leverage work habits to incorporate efficiencies, prompt response, data analysis and organizational requirements.
  • Manage the integrity and timely reporting required with donors and partners.
  • Execution of competing priorities with consideration for complex needs such as location, temperature and capacity.
  • Strong and creative problem resolution is expected; coordinate with internal departments and collaborate with agencies as needed to reach goals.
  • Cultural awareness and expression; understands and respects how ideas and meaning are creatively expressed in a variety of cultures
  • Responsible for supporting and aligning with Philabundance Cultural pillars. Ensure communications, actions and interactions reflect a focus on People, Partnerships, Professionalism, and Progress.

Note: This role requires the successful completion of a drug test and background check. Light travel is required for this role. If using company vehicles must meet requirements, must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
