About the Department

LOCATION: City of Pasco, WA (on-site)
SALARY: $108,451.20 - $130,187.20 annually, depending on qualifications
JOB TYPE: Regular/Full-Time
UNION STATUS: Non-Union 
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flex scheduling may be available)
CLOSING DATE: Open until filled. First review April 20, 2026.

THE ROLE:

As the Finance Supervisor, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing the City’s core financial operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, audit coordination, and compliance with governmental accounting standards. This position supports the Finance Manager in directing departmental operations and ensures the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the City’s financial systems.

The ideal candidate will have five (5) or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience, strong knowledge of governmental accounting (GAAP), and demonstrated supervisory experience. This role requires the ability to lead and mentor staff, manage complex financial processes, and collaborate across departments to support strategic financial planning.

You will:

  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, including performance evaluations and training
  • Oversee financial records, reconciliations, and reporting processes
  • Lead year-end close and support preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
  • Coordinate the annual audit and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support budget development, financial forecasting, and capital planning (CIP)
  • Oversee cash management, investments, debt, grants, and capital asset accounting
  • Serve as a financial resource to departments on technical accounting matters

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
  • Experience with financial systems, reconciliations, and audit processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or related certification
  • Experience in municipal or public sector finance
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Tyler Munis, New World)
  • Experience with grant accounting, debt management, and capital project accounting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment

  • May require extended hours during audit periods, budget development, and year-end close
