Job Description

Position Summary/Purpose: Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs.

GCU maintains a partnership with ZimZam Global located at 1134 E Irma Lane, Phoenix, AZ, 85024. ZimZam Global trains leaders, to plant churches, through discipling children. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of ZimZam Global; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring). If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May – August).

CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.

As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Assist in organizing OneMeal Food Packing Events, helping expand this initiative beyond Scottsdale Bible Church to other churches and organizations across the AZ valley and USA.
  • Coordinate GCU Global Events, AZ local events, where we engage new GCU students, potential ministry partners, donors and share ZimZam Global’s vision.
  • Meet with local partners and churches to strengthen relationships and explore new opportunities for community engagement.
  • Help with donor research, identifying potential new supporters and funding opportunities.
  • Assist in developing digital marketing strategies, including social media, email campaigns, and event promotions through our ZZG marketing team.
  • Support event logistics, volunteer coordination, and outreach efforts.
  • Volunteer and assist with Scottsdale Bible Church Shea Campus special needs ministry events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage

Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2026
