Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager/Site Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet contract requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes. This role involves daily onsite inspections, documentation, and coordination to ensure proper installation of materials and systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily onsite inspections of construction work, materials, and installation methods
  • Verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards
  • Document inspection results, deficiencies, and corrective actions
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve issues
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance
  • Monitor adherence to safety standards, including OSHA requirements
  • Assist in evaluating change orders, cost impacts, and material quantities
  • Ensure all building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection) are installed correctly
  • Support commissioning activities and project closeout documentation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of combined experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or business management
  • At least 6 years of experience on projects of similar size, scope, and complexity
  • Experience inspecting large-scale renovation or modernization projects
  • Familiarity with projects valued at $10M or greater
  • Experience with commissioning and system verification preferred
  • Background in historic renovation projects is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications
  • Experience inspecting construction materials, workmanship, and system installations
  • Knowledge of construction practices and proper installation methods
  • Ability to perform material takeoffs and assist in cost evaluations
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and enforcement
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ABAAS

Physical Requirements


The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 2/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 70 pounds on an infrequent basis. The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
