Role Overview
Handles claims that involve the investigation of coverage, liability, damages and resolution of both non-litigated and litigated claim files for primary casualty lines, There will be some handling of small contractor artisan claims and project specific policies with emphasis on complex Construction Defect and Owners, Landlords & Tenant (OL&T), as well as wrap claims throughout the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively handle complex claims from the First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to resolution of the claim while working with and advising business partners.
- Analyze and draft coverage letters while properly communicating coverage positions to insureds, brokers and agents.
- Assimilate all transfer cases and have current diary on all files. All files should have been worked on and brought current. Understand and apply best practices to all files. Maintain a 1 to1 open to close ratio while reducing average indemnity and additional living expense (ALE).
- Conduct and proactively handle investigation of claims whenever possible.
- If outside vendors or experts are needed, direct and closely monitor their work.
- Draft high-quality reports, set timely reserves, or report to leadership cases wherein the reserves need to be set over your authority.
- As an experienced adjuster, provide technical advice to claims leadership and underwriting.
- Mentor and educate less experienced adjusters.
- Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as is necessary.

What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
- Doctor of Jurisprudence preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- State Adjusting Licenses as required
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred
- Associate in Claims (AIC) preferred
Experience
- 8 years of relevant and progressive experience in handling construction defect cases throughout the United States
- Experience in Artisan claims as well as OL&T claims, which could include New York Labor Law claims
Additional Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of Construction defect claims with an emphasis on WRAP policies
- Must be highly proficient in coverage and have handled coverage litigation on behalf of a carrier
- Must possess a high understanding of Risk Transfer and Recovery
- Proficient in Litigation Management with an emphasis on legal budget creation and review
- Knows the most effective and efficient methods to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
- Sound analytical skills, as well as strong decision-making and problem-solving aptitude
- Must be an exceptional communicator and able to make connections externally and internally
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn
- Possess and have ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business
- Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
Travel (if required/needed)
- Regular travel (up to 50% of time);

Pay Transparency
The pay range for this position is $104,600.00 - $143,900.00 which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
