Job Description:

University Physical Therapy – Salem is seeking a passionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our outpatient physical therapy and sports medicine team. This role focuses on providing evidence-based care to patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, and performance-related conditions. You will work in a collaborative environment with other rehabilitation professionals to help patients return to peak function, wellness and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with physical therapist and therapy team to execute individualized treatment plans for patients with sports-related injuries, orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions.
  • Deliver hands-on therapy and prescribe therapeutic exercises to restore function, strength, and mobility.
  • Educate patients on injury and fall risk prevention, recovery strategies, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and interdisciplinary team members in the community to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in sports medicine and rehabilitation.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associates Degree as PTA or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in Virginia.
  • Experience:
    • Preferred: 1+ years in outpatient orthopedics or sports medicine.
    • New graduates with strong interest in sports rehab are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Information:
