Position Summary
The Sr. Maintenance Technician is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the reliability of all production equipment and facility systems. This role serves as a site-wide technical expert supporting electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, plumbing, boilers, fire suppression systems, HVAC infrastructure, and overall building operations.
This position is responsible for executing advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repair activities while applying practical engineering methods and continuous improvement techniques to drive equipment uptime, facility reliability, and operational efficiency.
The role also supports facility infrastructure, including basic construction, equipment installation, building modifications, and contractor coordination. Additionally, this position requires hands-on fabrication capabilities and the ability to operate and support material handling equipment.
The Sr. Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring less experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and repair complex failures in production and facility equipment using structured root-cause analysis
- Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems, including control circuits and power distribution across single-phase and three-phase systems, ranging from low voltage (24VDC control circuits, 120VAC, 208VAC) to higher voltage systems (240VAC, 277VAC, and 480VAC), including electrical panels, transformers, switchgear, breakers, motor controls, VFDs, and facility power distribution infrastructure.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair single-phase and three-phase motors, starters, contactors, and controls
- Support PLC-controlled equipment troubleshooting including I/O validation and fault diagnostics
- Perform advanced mechanical repairs (bearings, gearboxes, belts, shafts, alignment)
- Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems (valves, cylinders, regulators, pumps, pressure systems)
Facilities, HVAC & Utility Systems
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems including rooftop units, heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, and make-up air systems
- Maintain and support boilers, compressed air systems, and facility utilities
- Perform plumbing repairs, piping modifications, and valve replacements/exchanges
- Support building systems to ensure uptime and operational continuity
Fire Protection & Life Safety Systems
- Support fire suppression systems including sprinkler systems and related infrastructure
- Assist with and/or coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and testing
- Ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and safety regulations
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
Construction, Facilities Improvements & Contractor Coordination
- Support basic construction activities including minor build-outs, infrastructure modifications, and equipment installations
- Assist with facility layout changes, department moves, and workspace modifications
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and quality work execution
- Support CAPEX and OPEX-related facility and maintenance projects
Fabrication & Equipment Modification
- Perform welding (MIG/TIG preferred), cutting, and fabrication from raw materials
- Modify or build components to support repairs, upgrades, and continuous improvement efforts
- Support custom solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability
Conveyors & Warehouse Systems
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems including belt-driven and motorized conveyors, rollers, drives, sensors, and material flow systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues impacting conveyor performance, including tracking, alignment, and drive functionality
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime across material handling systems
- Support warehouse infrastructure including racking systems, pallet flow systems, and overall material handling environments
- Apply strong mechanical knowledge of gears, shafts, bearings, chains, belts, and fasteners to maintain system performance
- Ensure safe, efficient material flow and support overall warehouse operational continuity
Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
- Safely operate forklifts including sit-down, stand-up, and propane units
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on forklifts and powered industrial equipment
- Support overall material handling system functionality and safety
Safety, Compliance & Reliability
- Perform all work in compliance with OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Follow NFPA 70/70E electrical safety standards and arc-flash requirements
- Support safety audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives
- Identify reliability risks and implement corrective and preventative actions
Leadership & Technical Support
- Act as a technical escalation point for equipment downtime and critical issues
- Prioritize and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production impact
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to maintenance team members
- Support cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and facilities
CMMS & Documentation
- Accurately document maintenance work using CMMS/Maintain X and work order systems
- Track repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment history
- Support development of PM programs and reliability improvements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Trade School preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing or distribution environment
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and facility systems
- Experience with HVAC, boilers, plumbing, and fire suppression systems preferred
- Welding and fabrication experience required/preferred
- Experience operating and maintaining forklifts and material handling equipment
- Experience working with contractors and facility projects preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and industrial systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Working knowledge of PLC systems and automated equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Understanding of NFPA 70/70E standards
- EPA 608 certification or HVAC knowledge preferred
- Familiarity with fire protection systems and inspection processes
- Basic construction and facility systems knowledge
- Welding and fabrication capability
- Ability to operate forklifts and industrial equipment safely
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to operate tools, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance. Work involves the use of tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment in various physical positions.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and industrial facility environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, temperature changes, dust, and chemicals. Work may occur indoors and outdoors, including elevated areas and confined spaces. PPE is required at all times.
