Bethany Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our middle school softball program as the Head Softball Coach. This full-time position requires an enthusiastic coach who can inspire and develop young athletes while fostering a positive and competitive team environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the game, and a commitment to the overall growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan for the middle school softball program, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring effective training sessions that cater to varying skill levels.
- Plan and schedule games and tournaments, coordinating logistics and transportation for the team.
- Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance to promote improvement.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and a love for the game.
- Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, expectations, and student-athlete progress.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure alignment with school policies and athletic department goals.
- Maintain safety standards during practices and games, ensuring all equipment is in good condition and that athletes are aware of safety protocols.
- Promote the softball program through community outreach, including organizing clinics, camps, and fundraising events.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in coaching and athlete development, attending relevant workshops or conferences as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience coaching softball at the middle school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules of the game.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young athletes and their families.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and games as required.
