About the role

The Key Account Manager (KAM) - Retail plays a critical role in driving sustainable business growth through strong distributor management, strategic account execution, and data‑driven decision‑making. This position is responsible for managing Modern Trade key accounts, optimizing trade spend, and collaborating with internal teams to deliver flawless execution across all sales fundamentals. The ideal candidate is a proactive commercial leader with a strong understanding of the FMCG landscape in Malaysia and a proven ability to build lasting partnerships with distributors and retailers.

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Distributor Management: Work closely with distribution partners to ensure seamless execution of sales fundamentals, stock availability, and distribution targets.
  • Account Execution: Manage key accounts in Modern Trade, ensuring promotional calendars are executed effectively and secondary displays are secured.
  • Business Analysis: Monitor sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity. Use data to provide actionable insights during monthly business reviews.
  • Trade Spend Optimization: Manage and track trade investments to ensure maximum ROI and alignment with the annual budget.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with Marketing and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful new product launches (NPD) and stock replenishment.

 What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience within the FMCG industry in Malaysia. Experience managing distributors is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record in managing Modern Trade (Hyper/Supermarkets)
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and the ability to interpret sales data to drive decisions.
  • A "hunter" mindset, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with both distributors and retailers.
  • Willingness to travel within the region as required.
