    This is a school-term, job level 11 ($28.42-28.80/hour), 7 hours/day (7:30-3:00 p.m. with half hour duty-free lunch) position. The interpreter facilitates communication between hearing persons and Deaf/hard of hearing students by providing sign language services. Assists teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment for Deaf/hard of hearing students. Establishes good working relationships with educational professionals to meet the needs of Deaf/hard of hearing students. It is desired but not necessary that the candidate have knowledge and experience working with preschool children. Preference is given to applicants proficient in American Sign Language and hold appropriate certification.  Certified Interpreters will be paid an additional $2.00 per hour for each work day they hold the certification.

     

    Depending on placement and setting assigned, additional duties may be required such as tutoring, toileting, and facilitating the acquisition of sign language for preschool students.
