Splendora High School Additional Information: Show/Hide - Plan and deliver instruction for college readiness, focusing on study skills, academic behaviors, and TSIA2 preparation.
- Develop presentations to educate students and parents on HB 5 Endorsements, graduation requirements, and personal graduation plans, course options, and college and career requirements.
- Assist campus counselors with student registration activities and district parent meetings.
- Work cooperatively with district leaders and campus principals to develop and supervise instructional programs
- Collaborate with and provide assistance to other school team members who may integrate HB 5 with other curriculum activities.
- Coordinate the campus dual credit process for Splendora High School and ECHS students.
- Assist students with enrolling in dual credit classes and monitor grades and student progress on a weekly basis.
- Coordinate with campus counselors and shared educational planners on college and career services.
- Coordinate presentations addressing academic requirements and topics on distinguished achievement, endorsements, automatic admissions, college prep courses, dual credit, and financial aid.
- Maintain accurate records (e.g., dual credit grades, student management file, monthly campus activities).
- Seek out scholarship and summer enrichment opportunities to share with students; assist students in completing and submitting admissions, scholarships, and financial aid applications.
- Assist students in interpreting correspondence from institutes of higher education, including admissions and financial aid.
- Assist students in registering for SAT, ACT, AP exams, and TSIA2.
- Provide parent and student advising at new student registration, regarding student progress, as needed throughout the year.
- Provide advising to students regarding academic matters
- Provide advising to teachers regarding student concerns.
- Interpret assessment data and test results while advising with parents, students, and school staff in order to assist in formulating realistic goals for students (e.g., state-mandated testing; career planning survey; special program testing).

Primary Purpose:

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree
Teacher Certification in English Language Arts and Reading 7�12 preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent communication & organization skills
Knowledge of House Bill 5 (implementation and impact)
Knowledge of the course sequence and prerequisites
Knowledge of college entrance requirements and pathways
Experience:
Experience at a high school or university, assisting students with transitioning from high school to college

29. Counsel individuals and groups of students regarding needs and concerns and advise with parents, teachers, administrators, and other individuals when appropriate.
30. Remain current with the application of various technology systems and state and local updates as they apply to graduation requirements and college and career preparedness.

Other Information:
