Position Location: This is a hybrid position based at our Overland Park, KS campus.

Job Description
As a Legal Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across a broad spectrum of legal issues. Working alongside experienced attorneys, you will tackle real legal matters spanning finance and technology, including Federal Indian Law, consumer protection, human resources, marketing and advertising, and corporate law — all within a fast-paced corporate environment. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to develop practical skills across multiple disciplines, build lasting legal acumen, and contribute meaningfully to our operations.
What You’ll Do
· Conduct legal research on consumer finance and technology issues, including evolving regulatory requirements and industry developments.
· Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, and other documents including clear, well-reasoned analysis.
· Assist with the review and preparation of contracts and vendor agreements.
· Assist with review of marketing materials and related disclosures for legal compliance.
· Support legal teams working on corporate structuring and entity formation projects, including research, document preparation, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
· Participate in meetings with key business stakeholders across legal, operations, and product teams, gaining firsthand experience navigating corporate dynamics.
· Assist with litigation matters as needed, including research, drafting, and document review.
· Complete our full online regulatory training curriculum over the course of the summer, building a solid working knowledge of key consumer lending regulations impacting our business.
· Perform other tasks and projects typical of a summer legal internship in a corporate legal department.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
Required Experience/Skills:
· Current enrollment in an accredited law school.
· Strong academic performance - candidates must rank in the top third of their law school class
· Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
· Demonstrated interest in financial services, fintech, or consumer protection law.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and work independently with close attention to detail.
Work Environment:
· This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office and remote work.
· Must have a suitable home workspace free from noise and distractions to maintain professional communication during calls.
· Reliable internet connection capable of supporting video calls, voice communication, and system access without interruption.
· The role requires the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across both in-person and virtual settings.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
· Ability to perform light physical activity such as reaching or adjusting equipment as needed within the workspace.
· Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds, such as computer equipment or office supplies.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
• Previous internship or experience in financial services, banking, or a regulatory environment.
Schedule
This is a part time, hybrid position. Specific in-office days and schedule will be agreed upon at time of hire.
Compensation Range
The compensation for this position is $24 per hour. Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
